We, the PLG chapter of St. Kate’s cordially invite you to our OPEN ACCESS event next Monday, Oct 22nd, 2012 at 6:30pm in CDC 17.
“Open Access” as defined on the www.openaccessweek.org website is – the free, immediate, online access to the results of scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use those results as you need.
In order to examine the current state of Open Access and how it applies to students, faculty, and librarians, we present the following panelists to share their knowledge and viewpoints:
- Emily Asch – Head of Technical Services at the St. Kate’s Library;
- Johan Oberg – Librarian of Digital Scholarship and Services at the DeWitt Wallace Library of Macalester College;
- Tom Eland – Library Faculty at the MCTC Library;
- John Daniels – State Program Administrator Technical Specialist at the MCTC Library
Through panel and group discussions as well as Q and A, we hope to introduce the concepts of Open Access, alert the audience to the issues surrounding it, and propose real solutions.
We encourage all to attend and to bring questions to ask and ideas to share!
